This is a 3 piece outfit pattern for 41 cms/ 15-16 ins dolls. After knitting the boy’s romper suit last time, I couldn’t get away from the thought of knitting one for little girls. Vintage meets Modern in this outfit. The romper is 40/50s style, while the head band is modern. I’ve used Baby Born to model it. It will fit Bayer dolls and others of similar length and with maximum chest size of 12½/32cms chest. There are 2 buttons at the back opening and 3 buttons across the crotch. This makes it very easy to dress the doll. The head band is in stretchy rib so only needs joining and the bow or any other embellishment applied. Little shoes complete the outfit and dolly is ready for the warmer time of year. The set requires 300 gms of UK double knityarn (USA fine worsted, Australian 8ply) and a small amount of contrast for the smocking and the bows. Non sewers can leave the smocking off and use an applique ior other adornment instead. Needles are UK9 and 8, USA5 and 6 or 3.75mm and 4mm.

Retailing at £3.25—special offer this month only: £2.50 when downloaded.

The pattern is a useful basic garment which can be treated in a variety of ways to give it very different looks. The garments can be given a bit of girlie treatment to make it special for the little princesses in your life. Instead of the flowers, other themed appliques could be used: bows, teddies, silk flowers or yachts, anchors, capstans for a nautical theme, or trucks, cars steam engines. The completed set requires 100grams of UK double knitting yarn (USA fine worsted/Australian 8ply), with UK9 and 8, USA5 and 6 or 3.75mm Needles.
